A Bit About Little Cranberry Art

It is my goal that you enjoy everything about Maine’s coast through my art.  Little Cranberry Art was started because I wanted Mainers, vacationers, and visitors alike to be able to bring home piece of Maine.

If you love Maine, its coastal scenery, its fishing villages, and the ocean, this site is for YOU!

Here you’ll find fine pen and ink artwork with both black and white and full-color depictions of everything about the Maine Coast, from lobster boats, to lighthouses, and from buoys to beach treasures.

At Little Cranbery Art, you’ll immediately find artwork that is unmistakably MAINE.

The geography, the wildlife, and the history.  Especially the history.  For me, Maine history and family history are deeply linked.  My ancestors had a role in the establishment of Cape Elizabeth, Warren, Thomaston, Rockland, and Friendship.  And it is in Friendship that you will find what drives me and inspires me.

I find inspiration in the rugged coastline.

I find it in the shore at low tide.

I find it in the salt air.

I find it in the wake of a lobster boat returning to the harbor with the day’s catch.

I find it in the sound of those same boats heading out in the pre-dawn light.

I find it in the homes of my ancestors that still stand proud and strong.

I find it in the stories my grandfather told me that I now share with my children.

I find it from the seat of my skiff, as I give my children their first lessons in geography as I tell them the names of the islands around them.

A Little About Me

A Little More About Me:

I’m an artist with a deep passion for Maine.  I was born and raised here.  I earned a degree in Fine Art from the University of Maine at Machias, in the heart of the Downeast.   I lived out-of-state for several years, but I’m back in the MidCoast and loving every minute of it.  There is no shortage of inspiration!

In 2016, a friend and fellow artist challenged me to try the annual Inktober ink drawing challenge, producing one ink drawing every day for the month of October.  I had hardly worked with ink before.  Using scenes from Maine as my inspiration, I found a deep love for pen and ink.  It is now my favorite medium.

Following the challenge, I didn’t want to stop drawing.  In 2016, I started drawing custom boat portraits for fishermen and their families.

I thought it might be a good idea to try drawing boat portraits.  I reached out to several lobstering groups on social media and found enthusiastic interest.  The first several boats helped me hone my craft and develop new techniques of rendering these beloved craft in pen and ink.

I also created artwork of scenes I like and wanted to see in pen and ink.  I offer these as prints.  While my following has grown on social media, I decided it was time to bring a useful platform to you where you can easily find out what I’m up to and what’s in the works.

I appreciate the opportunity to share my passion with you through my artwork.  I don’t want you to miss any of the wicked good stuff that’s going on, so make sure to subscribe with your email so I can send you updates of my works in progress and completed artwork, as well as upcoming art shows, and to be notified of any wicked good deals.
